Black Inculpators Astartes Warhammer 40k fan art
I painted this illustration for the Swatches Academy: Space Marine Challenge hosted by Diana and Clint Cearley.
The following brief was provided: “Two marines move forward, wary of threats. The marines are scouting ahead, not yet engaged in battle. One should be wearing black armor, and one should have no helmet. They are in a tech laboratory or outdoors with a large crashed ship behind them.” Based on that brief, I wanted to portray Octavus, a seasoned Space Marine Veteran, leading his surviving brothers of the Black Inculpators Chapter away from the wreckage of their ship on the inhospitable planet Neva. It was incredibly fun diving into the lore of Warhammer 40k and to paint this two Adeptus Astartes from this mysterious Black Inculpators Space Marine Chapter. Also I’m happy to share I came out in 3rd place for the challenge!
