Warhammerr 40,000 Double Eagle – Thunderbolt re-design
A part of Masters Project for MA Concept Art for Games and Animation at Teesside University; A modern movie adaptation based on Dan Abnett’s novel set in Warhammer 40,000 universe “Double Eagle“.
Thunderbolt is Imperial Navy heavy jet fighter – cumbersome yet durable and loaded with firepower. It’s original design is clearly inspired by Supermarine Spitfire, along with several other warplanes in service during World War 2, with most of the mass located forward and the cockpit off to the back of the plane.
The goal of this re-design is to reduce the boxiness and adjust the size to achieve realism when portrayed together with the characters. Engine cover is turned into a single, more streamlined hull shroud.
