40k Rulebook
Don’t think i ever shared this one, cover art for one if the 40k Rulebooks – obviously following on from the previous art by Karl and Boydy (i think?). Tried to work in some symbolism: I think the imperial eagle was always meant to have one blinded head and one sighted, in my image blinded head of the eagle is too consumed with war, the sighted head is too consumed with the outward threat to notice the mangled head of the serpent (chaos?) creeping up the back of the image toward the skull – the skull meant to reference John’s painting of The Emperor.. so an internal threat sort of thing, Imperiums biggest threat is itself etc. The whole thing is held up by some human figures, ‘the weight of the Imperium on the shoulders of mankind’ sort of thing. Or its just a warhammer because the game is called warhammer, you choose
