Watch Captain Azazel Invictatus, Principled Captain of the Black Blade. Born a Primaris of the Angels of Vengeance, Invictatus was present for the Siege of Darkmor, where he relentlessly pursued the Fallen Angel Cypher but ultimately failed when the heretic escaped. One of few survivors, Azazel went on to swear a vigil within the Deathwatch as penance. His ferocity and unrelenting distaste for both Xenos and Heretics served him well in this role, and within time his brutal tactics and willpower earned him the title of Watch Captain. His Watch Company, nicknamed “the Black Blade” has seen great success in the ongoing war against the Xenos who threaten the outlying reaches of the Emperor’s territory. While casualties can be high under Invictatus’ ruthless command and strategic inflexibility, those who survive are equally ruthless and unbreakable in nature.
