Astartes Warhammer 40K
I discovered the world of Warhammer 40K a couple of years ago, when my friend Himesh showed me a fan-made animation called Astartes, something so legendary and insanely amazing, that it was later made canon by the owners and the one guy who made that film, Syama Pedersen, was hired to direct later ventures. I also had the incredible luck of being contacted by Syama himself for some design work on one of his personal projects, but had to miss the opportunity as I was busy with other exciting projects.
Later last year, Amazon Prime dropped the most jaw-dropping animated short ever, an episode on Warhammer 40K in their anthology, Secret Level…and I haven’t been able to rest easy ever since. [If you haven’t watched it….I don’t know….go and watch it!!!] Then I got to play Space Marine II, one of the most adrenaline-rush giving game experiences ever!
In more recent news, they’re making a live-action version with Henry Cavil and even more recently, a Space Marine III game has been announced to be in development! So, in conclusion, I finally got over my fear or apprehension of attempting something based on this universe because I found the aesthetic and design to be too difficult….and painted this over the weekend. Could have been better…but let’s keep it at this for now. Hope you like!
