40K Gallery Hit List

The Hit List

What this page is

Every piece of artwork on this site is filed under tags: factions, chapters, warbands, klans, aspects, characters, vehicles, weapons, worlds, events. Some of those tags are stuffed. Plenty of them are not. This page lists the thin ones, every tag with two pieces of artwork or fewer, emptiest first.

Think of it as the gallery's want list. If a tag shows up here, it means the archive has almost nothing to show for a corner of the setting that deserves better, and I would like that fixed.

Why it exists

Two reasons, depending on who you are.

If you make art and you are stuck on what to paint next, this is a list of subjects nobody has covered. Pick one. There is a good chance you would be the first piece under that tag, or the second, and that is a nice place to be.

If you do not make art but you spend a lot of time looking at it, this is a list of things to keep an eye out for. I find most of the gallery by searching, and I miss things constantly. If you have seen a piece that belongs under one of these tags, send me the link and I will do the rest.

Like the Unknown Artists list, I want this page to go away

I keep an Unknown Artists section for pieces where I could not track down who made them, and I have said there that I would love to give credit where credit is due and see that list shrink to nothing. Same idea here. Every tag that gets filled is a tag that drops off this page, and the day the Hit List is empty is a good day. It is a to-do list, not a permanent feature.

Realistically it will never be completely empty, because I add new tags as the setting grows and as new subjects show up in the gallery. That is fine. Shorter is still better.

How to submit

  1. Pick a tag from the list below. Click through to its page if you want to read the lore description and see what little is already there.
  2. Make the art, or find the art.
  3. Send it to me through the contact form or by email at [email protected]. The form has options for suggesting an artist and for submitting artwork, so pick whichever fits.
  4. Tell me which tag you are aiming at. It saves me a step and makes sure the piece lands where you intended.

If the work is yours, send a link to where it lives, your name or the name you want credited, and any social or portfolio links you want on your artist page. If you are pointing me at somebody else’s work, just the link is enough, finding the artist and their info is my job.

A few things worth knowing before you send. You keep the copyright to your work, always. I post at web quality, up to 1920 pixels on the longest edge, and anyone who wants print quality or licensing gets sent to you. I do not post AI generated art, though a piece that uses a little AI for something like background filler can still go up, tagged as AI Assisted so it is clear.

The honest part

Every piece on this site is hand-picked by me, one at a time, so sending something in is not an automatic post. Art aimed at a tag on this page has a much better shot than most, because these are exactly the gaps I am trying to close, but it is still a hopeful maybe rather than a guarantee. If a piece does not make it, that is not a judgment on you or your work. Send me the next one.
