Warhammer 30k: Imperial Fists Invasion
Ordinance casts clouds of shrapnel, the sun nears its setting point over the walls of a distant bastion, and an Imperial Fists battle group surges over countless defenders to bring a new world into compliance during the Emperor’s Great Crusade.
Two truths.
A beautiful sunset with golden light and perfect blue skies, glorious heroes shrugging off punishment and fighting for a righteous cause, the bond of brotherhood tested in the crucible of war. The lost children of humanity finally united back into the fold.
An avalanche of super human war machines in the shape of men— festooned with oaths of war, skulls hanging from their belts, and a killer’s ambition in the lenses of their helmets. Skies choked with ash, dotted with drop pods, and lit by the fires of orbital weaponry. Mangled defenders and crumbling walls, too insignificant to bother showing and just a ripple in the wake of the Imperium’s bloody conquest through the galaxy.
In this painting my goal was to juxtapose the equally horrifying and beautiful realities of The Great Crusade. To create something almost like a propaganda poster with a undercurrent of destruction and mayhem disguised as honor and glory. I always loved the stalwart and implacable Imperial Fists for both their stark yellow armor and their unyielding dedication. When I had the idea to depict a compliance of The Great Crusade, they immediately sprang to mind.
