Yet another Marines Malevolent piece.
Vossgrave it’s not my first OC and definitely not the deepest.
But he’s… one of the good guys. Don’t worry.
Lore:
During the Indomitus Crusade, Leonardus Vossgrave and his Phobos squad of the Marines Malevolent were tasked with eliminating the leaders of a Chaos cult on Gethsemar Reach, operating alongside a squad of Intercessors. After completing their mission, they discovered that the cult was merely a bait and they were ambushed by a Black Legion warband led by the Black Legionary Khal Vardek. Surrounded and heavily depleted, they fought a retreat through a promethium refinery still defended by the few remaining armed civilians. Unwilling to waste even a moment on coordination procedures or encrypted communications, the Marines Malevolent killed the guards and forced their way directly into the facility. In doing so, the heretics unknowingly walked into a counter-ambush of their own. During the fighting, a Chaos Terminator reached Vossgrave in close combat and disarmed him. Spotting a ritual knife lodged in the corpse of a cultist, Vossgrave hurled it, causing it to ricochet off a metal beam and then through the neck and skull of two Imperial Guardsmen before burying itself in the Terminator’s throat through a damaged joint in his armour. The deaths of the two soldiers had been a deliberate calculation; the act caused a brief moment of hesitation in the Terminator, a window of barely half a second that proved fatal. Recovering his rifle, Vossgrave then eliminated Khal Vardek by triggering the explosion of an industrial pipeline. The surviving Marines detonated the refinery and escaped, leaving most of the Black Legion force buried beneath burning wreckage and collapsing debris.
