Citizens! Introducing the second place winner of our Sororitas Order Writing Contest!
The Order of the Brazen Hammers is a group of sisters who focus on the sanctified creation of heavy armor and machinery. Originally an offshoot of the Ebon Chalice, The Battle Group that would become the Brazen Hammers accompanied a devout Mechanicus explorator fleet to the planet of Sigma-Rho-Delta-5, more commonly called “Myst-rock”. While colonizing the death world, both the Sororitas and Mechanicus entities would end up influencing each other’s views on the god-Emperor. Creating this new perspective on him as the unchallenged master of all mechanisms in the universe.
Over the centuries, the world of Myst-rock would give away to the declaration of the new order. Its Great Plateaus and cliffs becoming populated with sanctuaries, churches, holy forges and manufactorums; while the deep values and misty forests of the world would remain untouched, and would only serve to eat away at the forces and resources of the exploratory group. The constant wear of the sister’s weapons and need for repair would serve the mechanicus well in service for protection of their Facilities. The lines between the cultures of these entities would become more blurred as the generations passed. With more and more novitiates of the sisterhood being trained not only in combat with their weapons, but the maintenance and even creation of their tools of war as well.
On the battlefield, the sisterhood is renowned for their use of heavy armor, and due to their roots, flamer and melta weapons. With a very high number of paragon warsuits and Rhino chassis relative to other unit types. Many sisters also sport cybernetic augmentations, and carry with them maintenance kits, so that they can better maintain their weapons. However, the trials to become a full battle-sister are harder than most, artificially lengthening a sister’s time as a Novitate, and leading to a high turnover rate within the Order as a whole. When a sister does pass through the trials of a novice, they are usually put into an elite position, specializing more often than not in a particular branch of warfare.
