Papa Nurgle
Greater Demon of Nurgle; a Great Unclean One, complete with Nurglings
Those of you familiar with Warhammer will recognise this immediately.
This took a fair amount of time to put together piecing a little bit here and there when I got spare time. Done in Photoshop with one custom splatter brush (pen pressure, wet edges, smoothing) the smudge tool and my wacom tablet.
This is probably my most complex hand painted image to date. The Nurglings were done in a couple of sittings each and took almost as long as some of my other images. I’ll post detail shots later.
Over all I’m really happy with this image. It has good depth, scale and detail. I could have *really* gone to town on the details, but less is most definitely more here.
I was a massive Warhammer fan when I was younger, and had a huge Nurgle collection. I’m pretty chuffed that I can now create something like this from scratch. I’m really amazed that my skills have grown to this level. *beams*
