John Blanche (1950 – 2025)
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of John Blanche, one of the most influential artists in the history of Warhammer 40,000. For decades, his dark, expressive brushwork and singular vision helped shape the grimdark aesthetic we all know and love. His style was unmistakable – chaotic, gothic, and hauntingly beautiful – and it left an indelible mark on the hobby and everyone who picked up a brush inspired by it.
You are a legend, and you will be missed. But you will never be forgotten. Your works will live on forever in the hearts of your fans.
