Striking Kestrels
Warhammer 40K Fanart
Kresh Khalon was born on the distant world of Kestrel.
Kestrel itself was a vibrant planet, covered by rich jungles and high mountaintops. It’s cities were built atop these mountains, and they were towering domes that rose high above the jungles below. This helped keep the citizens of the planet separated from the creatures lurking in the planet’s depths. Kestrel itself grew a reputation for harbouring some of the greatest pilots in the imperium. Due to it’s clear skies, high mountaintops, and occasionally torrential jungle weather, it served as a perfect place to breed high flyers.
Kresh’s father was a pilot himself, although the young boy did not get to know much about him as he was whisked away by operatives from the Ravenguard chapter as a boy. Not much is known about his story from there, aside from the fact that Kresh now leads the Striking Kestrels, a successor chapter of the Raven Guard, which was formed during the second founding.
These marines specialize in many of the same sets of combat as the ravenguard. However, what sets them apart is their ability to engage an enemy head-on using their powerfully modified jet packs combined with heavier marks of armor, such as gravis armor.
They are the ultimate combination of stealth, aerial strikes, and punishing close combat. The Striking Kestrels currently find themselves engaged in combat on their home planet, Kestrel, as tyranids from hive fleet leviathan have already spread across the surface and are gaining exponential amounts of biomass from the planet’s rich jungles and densely populated dome habitats.
All hell has broken loose as the chapter has arrived in full force after receiving multiple distress calls. It is a dire situation, and there is no support coming. It is up to Kresh and his brothers to defend their home, till the last brother of the chapter falls.
Kresh wears a suit of modified Gravis Armor along with the newly issued Primaris jump packs created by Belisarius Cawl. The improved jump pack is able to sustain the weight of the Gravis armor, unlike the previously created packs.
It was Kresh’s genius observation of this fact, his warrior prowess, and the passing of long- standing chapter master Haxorus Lexon during the Bantus campaign that led to his elevation to the echelon of the chapter. He is also equipped with a modified chain sword and a sharp and deadly power claw. As well as a long-barreled bolt pistol that is good for close and long-range engagements.
He is a fearless warrior who mixes guerrilla and stealth tactics with devastating, surgical strikes. He is often searching for the strongest foe on the battlefield to achieve a quick and decisive win.
