Maerorus Temple

The renegade and now-defunct Maerorus Temple was created in the early years of the 40th Millennium by the Officio Assassinorum to deal with multiple targets simultaneously, such as the command hierarchy of an enemy army, or the members of a particularly widespread Chaos Cult. In order to achieve this, the rogue temple turned to Hereteks to develop the use of illegal Human/mutant/xenos hybrids, including the possible use of Tyranid genetic material, in effect creating living weapons that were capable of absorbing the biomass of victims to rapidly evolve new bio-weapons through self-controlled mutation. This eliminated the need to maintain and utilise standard weaponry as such technology was always subject to failure. Ultimately, such techniques were considered gross, heretical violations of the Imperial Creed.
