The Outcast Dead
His name is unknown, his past shrouded in speculation. Stripped of all rank and honor. He has seen countless worlds burn, the worst of the warp could possibly offer and yet he knows no peace. Once an angel of the first, he was deathsworn to atone for grave trespasses during the early years of the Crusader Host. Seeking his atonement through combat and bloodshed, the Outcast defied odds. He fought with increasing abandonment and recklessness. While on a pacification campaign of a pre-industrial planet, the Outcast found himself cut off from the war host. While trying to figure out how to get back, he stumbled on some ruins that seemed to pre-date Old Night. The ruins where ancient and potentially xenos in origin. He experienced a curious feeling and shiver down his spine and then his memory is blank. He found himself on the battlefield with no knowledge whether he had hallucinated the whole incident. Strange whispers, haunted his sleep. He became increasingly sullen and withdrawn. While he had no direct responsibility of Luther’s failure he was exiled to Caliban alongside the rest of the company. And when Luther ultimately betrayed the Lion, he was spirited away during the warp distortions that wracked Caliban apart.
Within the Eye of Terror, the Fallen occupy a curious place. Some have embraced the truth about the Primordial Annihilator and some fight to regain a shred of honor and dignity, denied to them summarily. While others forge their own strange path, untethered by the burden of legion discipline and doctrine. In the case of the Outcast Dead, any sort of pretense of honor or mission has been supplanted with the single-minded pursuit of death. He is a mercenary that asks for no recompense, a reaver that wants no plunder. He fights with Vorasha’s lot and while he has not articulated more than a handful of words and gestures, his intent is concise. A strange aura surrounds him, warriors who have fought alongside him swore having seen him take mortal wounds and yet not die. An unknowable patron toys with his existence and offers him no respite.
