The Thalian Lions – Warhammer 40k Commission
Commissioned by MarsRipper/Emperor Mars as a book-cover for his work-in-progress 40k story.
Features two Thalian Lions of the Second Legion – including a captain, a regular legionnaire, and Primarch of the Legion: Léonce – and the Eldar Exodite companion Kiana.
Definitely one of the biggest projects I’ve tackled so far. From several sketches on paper to the final digital version it totaled around 160 layers and became a 1,7gb file to work with in Photoshop. A myriad of different techniques were discovered along the way, including – oddly enough – a custom made brush I owe for making this image take slightly less time that it probably would’ve without it. That being said, it still took a very long time ^^!
