Warhammer 40K】Battle of Calth
The Battle of Calth, also known as the Calth Atrocity. Later Imperial scholars recorded that at the beginning of the Horus Heresy, the 17th Legion “Word Bearers” launched a surprise attack on the 13th Legion “Ultramarines”, their long-lost enemy, in the name of Warmaster Horus. The battle was initiated by the Primarch of the Word Bearers Legion, Lorgar Aurelian. Personally, Lorgar wanted to completely destroy the 13th Legion; for the entire Heresy, the main purpose of the Word Bearers’ invasion of the Ultramarine Segmentum on the eastern border of the Milky Way was to contain the 13th Legion and prevent the Ultramarines from returning to Holy Terra. The core of the entire battle was Calth, an agricultural world in the Ultramarine Segmentum (well, Calth was still an agricultural world in M31). Although Calth’s atmosphere and lush biosphere were completely destroyed, and although the Ultramarines suffered heavy casualties, the 13th Legion successfully crushed the Word Bearers’ raid in a fierce battle. Due to the damage caused by the Word Bearers in the “Calth Atrocity”. The descendants of Calth had no choice but to flee the radiation-scorched, airless surface and move to a huge hive underground. Guilliman and the Ultramarines achieved a tactical victory, but Lorgar and the Word Bearers achieved a strategic victory: the Ultramarines failed to return to Holy Terra.
