If anyone sees this, I have a question that’s been nagging at me. Is this the original version of this piece? Did the colorized edition with the more skull-like face come later? I’ve been trying to find some more info on it with no luck. Thanks in advance!
I’ve always assumed that it was done after editing with the official release and that the more human face was the original version. That is just my own personal thoughts, nothing official.
I believe this one is used in the 10th ed codex and the skull version was used in 8th but I’m not 100% sure although I remember reading in a forum that this one is more accurate to m41 and the skull was post heresy
The skull face one has been used as far back as 5th edition (I’ve got a rules booklet from the 5th ed starter box, Assault on Black Reach, and it’s the first art you see when you open the cover), I did not see this ‘full face’ version at all until 10th edition and I’ve been into the hobby since 4th. I would also like to know why it was changed, and which one was the original.
