Fra’al Battle
The Fall and Salvation of Venous Beta (Late M38)
Following the Haldern Crusade into the Segmentum Obscurus towards the Halo Stars in M38, Imperial forces establish a foothold series of mining colonies in the Venous System, it’s isolated human culture brought into the Imperium of Mankind. However, 50 standard years later into the Imperial occupation the world is assaulted by the mysterious Fra’al xenos, a known scourge to Imperial shipping routes and naval flotillas in the Galactic North of the Milkyway. Fra’al are nomadic pirates and black market traders but maintain networks of such trophy worlds as Venous Beta and their enslaved populations to resupply and conduct repairs on their vessels, and will commit multiple allied Conclave Battlecruisers to attempt to reclaim the world as part of the resupply nodes of their Empire.
The Fra’al Sistrum, a coalition of multiple Conclaves, assaults the Imperial foothold with a massed force of Psi-Golem Constructs and Heavy Marauder forces, whilst Corsairs harry the limited number of defensive void craft in orbit using their Aetheric Rift tunnels to bypass their defensive shields. Eventually the assault is broken by the arrival of an Ordo Xenos suppression fleet, as Tempestus Scion Storm Troopers engage the Fra’al ground forces. The Fra’al depart in retreat and, although the Imperium still retain control of the planet whilst suffering heavy losses, the disbanding Sistrum is successful in crippling most of the world’s defences and taking untold valuable materials with them into the void of interstellar space.
