“981.M41, Year 47 of the Maethrillion Crusade. In pursuit of a string of corrupted worlds, the chapter found itself involved in a grand crusade against a foul xenos race. The once isolationist lords of slaughter, now finding themselves in the middle of a coalition of astartes chapters. The years had been long, and the unprepared perished while the strong thrived in the bloodshed. Smoke rose from the horizon, and corpses littered the battlefield, what was once a xenos hive now turned to a necropolis. The sound of mechanical joints moving and motors whining became louder as the ground began to shake, followed by the thud of large footsteps. A cloud of ash swept across, blocking all from sight, leaving only one sound remaining. The sound of chains scraping against metal.”
