The Harrowing of Atticosa was the culmination of a decades long covert campaign of attrition, and millennia long grudge, that was initiated by the Harrowmaster and Leader of the Shadow Tendrils warband, Dorbalus Casca.
The Fallen Alpha Legionnaires did what they did best, spending long years seeding the planets of the Merran Cluster Sub-Sector with their agents and operatives, focusing on orchestrating the perfect conditions to destroy the descendants of Casca’s rival and former Battle Brother, Tavian Grippa.
The conditions met, a series of tragedies befell the Chapter:
– The Ambush at Ort Kassun, 195M36 – 2/3 of the 6th Zodiac (Company) and its Star Supernova (Captain), Gregor Ephialtes, are lost in battle.
– The Doom of the Icarian, 196M36 – A Warp Drive malfunction of the Strike Cruiser “Icarian”. All of 7th Zodiac is lost.
– The Tragedy on Laxaser, 197M36 – 1/3 of 8th Zodiac is lost in ambushes.
– The Death on Ushtash, 198M36 – 2 Devastator Squads (3rd, 9th), under Epistolary Stantius Paulus. Contact is lost, and only the mutilated remains of the 2 Sergeants are found.
The corrupted survivors of the aforementioned events joined the Harrowing of Atticosa alongside their corruptors in 201M36. Albeit, falling to different deities, the marines of the Reserve Companies of the Chapter fought under the leadership of Casca.
Following the defeat of the Traitor Marines, with the timely arrival of the 3rd Zodiac under Star Supernova Marius Sullar and the full Chapters of the White Hands and Ant Lords for support, the Fallen Stars fled and later split along the lines of Chaos dedication, forming 4 distinct warbands:
– Visions of Ephialtes (Slaanesh – former 6th Zodiac)
– Pale Stars (Nurgle – former 7th Zodiac)
– Brass Meteors (Khorne – former 8th Zodiac)
– Dark Prisms (Tzeentch – former 9th Zodiac)
