The Betrayer
Hi, fellow deviants!
It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded new material and even longer since I’ve visited the Dark Millenium of Warhammer 40,000. Thus, this update will kill two birds with one stone!
This illustration is a long overdue commission, which gave me the opportunity to draw a character I’d been wanting to tackle for a very long time: Khârn the Betrayer. Chaos has always fascinated me, because it isn’t something I get to draw often, so when I do, I like to make it somehow extra-chaotic and more special.
For Khârn I really wanted to work with the ‘Blood for the Blood God!’ battle cry, making it a true reality. So it seemed only logical that I made The Betrayer rising up from a pool of blood, ready to do battle in the name of the Ruinous Powers.
I’m particularly proud of this image because I intentionally tried to make him larger than life and that comes accross very well. Also, there’s a very old school feel to this illustration which I tried hard to achieve, rather than modernising or giving into a more gritty approach. The colors are vibrant and everything is exaggerated, but contributing to the excessive nature of Chaos.
As usual, let me know what you think and hopefully we’ll see more of the Dark Millenium soon!
