The Quick and The Dead
Happy Monday, folks!
Well, I’ve been away a while from these parts and not because I wanted to at all, as you might imagine. I love the interactions here on dA, but work’s been very hectic and barely given me a moment’s chance to upload warm-ups and so forth. So, while I take a brief respite from the busy schedule, here’s some artwork you haven’t yet seen, which I hope you enjoy! :nod:
These Dark Millenium icons have now become an official series which will depict all of the Legions, loyal and treacherous, from the Horus Heresy. Of course, I couldn’t be more excited to get to dive into the mythology again and having seen the awesome reaction my first set got, I hope you’ll be as happy to see the following ones.
The Death Guard has always been one of my favorites from the lore; even in their fallen state they’re awesome! And while the White Scars flew under my radar, I loved tackling their classic, simple and powerful heraldry.
As usual with these, I’m trying to add a bit to the depiction and not just make them symbols, but have details that’ll bring them up and show each Legion’s nature. With the traitor ones, I’m especially focusing on putting a whiff of the Chaos allegiance to come and in this particular case, the stench of Papa Nurgle is pretty noticeable. As is the lightning fierceness of the White Scars’ bolt.
