I started 40k in V5 when I was barely 11 years old. My parents gave me the Assault on Black Reach starter box, and I was instantly captivated. Since then, @david.gallagher.art‘s art has become inseparable from the Space Marine aesthetic for me and has never ceased to inspire me. For a long time, I thought it would be too complicated to create a large battle scene, so I took on this challenge to prove to myself that I was capable. I think I would have preferred to have managed to emancipate myself a little more from my original inspirations (like Assault on Black Reach) but I’m still really proud of the result!
