Loyalist Kharn
Completed project for a client’s character idea. A what-if scenario of Kharn that never fell to chaos.
“We were once trusted despite our savagery. We were once the Emperor’s glorious weapon of blood- shed. We may not have been Wolves but we were his rabid Hounds. We weren’t sent to sniff out prey but to tear it and its home apart in an orgy of destruction and raise the corpses as trophies of our glory. We may not have been the most disciplined or reliable Legion but we won the worst wars with our heads held high, and I dare Perturabo or Mortarion to compare their most bitter victories to ours. Then it all went wrong when that Red Bastard was found. I had hoped. I had believed. We had de- voted ourselves to become his slaves. His Eaters of Worlds. The day we became the World Eaters was the day the legion truly died. We lost all self-control to be closer to him. To be like him. Like every day was our last. Then the Great Treachery. He wept as he slaughtered us on Istvaan. What right did he have to weep? None! I wept that day for I have lost all hope. Now I rage every second, contained in cold iron discipline, waiting to meet those I once called brother who helped slaughter my true brothers.”
Khârn, some time after Isstvan III.
