The Sanguine Spears are an almost fully Primaris Chapter from an unknown founding. After the entire Chapter except their chief Librarian was killed in the defence of Baal, Dante selected one of his own Sanguinary Guard to become the new Chapter Master. The marines now wear the scraps of cloth they took from their fallen firstborn brothers, as both tribute and penance for their failure to reach Baal in time to save them. After returning to their home planet Khandoria Prime, they dis- covered their Chapters secrets, Chief Librarian Raphon Amatis explained how after their first Chapter Master fell to the Black Rage, they developed a psychic power to manifest the wings of Sanguinius to hold back the Rage during battle. This came at a hard price however, their red thirst would become uncontrollable. To stop one curse, they fell to another. Many marines keep skull trophies of their kills, and each one keeps a personal tally of Tyranid Warrior kills.
